Laser-markable Polymers

Ticona laser-markable polymers enable life-of-part tracking and decoration in harsh environments.

You can uniquely identify each part without the hassle of changing dies.

Advantages of laser marking

  • Indelible marks
  • Non-contact to surface
  • Extremely sharp images without smudging
  • No pre- or post-treatments typically required
  • No solvent use and no associated disposal
  • Precision placement of marks and letters, even on irregular or curved surfaces
  • Sequential coding
  • Quick design changes via programmable software
  • 2-D-Symbology potential (ultradense data capability)
  • No adverse effect from part surface moisture
  • Low operating cost (no consumable supplies to purchase, such as ink)
  • Low maintenance

Celcon® acetal copolymer (POM)

Feature: Sharp, crisp indelible images on low-gloss or high-gloss surfaces

When to use: High-wear situations, and/or aggressive chemical environments (including “greasy fingers”). Use on smooth or textured surfaces, and on flat, curved or recessed surfaces. Available in a wide variety of colors.

Celanex® thermoplastic polyester (PBT)

Feature: Unique, highly detailed decorative gray images on white or white images on black substrates. Long-lasting images that withstand high heat and aggressive chemicals.

When to use: If a light, bright appearance is needed. Excellent for sequence coding electrical components and automotive under-the-hood components. Images offer high contrast for human readability, as well as machine-read bar codes and data matrix codes.

Riteflex® thermoplastic polyesterelastomer (TPC-ET)

Feature: Images that will flex with the substrate. Available in a variety of colors.

When to use: Code or decorative applications to withstand greases and other aggressive chemicals. Can provide long-lasting identification of flexible parts with bar codes, serial numbers and data matrix codes.
