The Wilmington plant is home to Fortron Industries, a joint venture between Ticona and Kureha Chemicals Industry Co. of Japan. The plant produces the raw materials for Fortron® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). Fortron Industries completed a multi-million dollar expansion of its Wilmington site in late 2000, increasing capacity by 25% and effectively doubling the capacity of the original plant when it came on stream in 1994.
