Personal care products frequently require good resistance to a variety of chemicals. Functionality, aesthetics, designer colors, and comfortable touch are among the many other attributes that may be required from products in this area. Ticona’s engineering resins can provide these attributes, and more. Whether the need is for a comb or a razor, a hairbrush or a toothbrush, a deodorant dispenser or a bottle blister package, Ticona has a resin to meet the needs.

For molded parts with high gloss finish, custom colored to a precision color match, Celcon® or Hostaform® acetal copolymers come highly recommended. These resins also have good mechanical properties, and abrasion and fatigue resistance, and they withstand exposure to a wide variety of aqueous and non-aqueous chemicals, including alcohols, fats and oils.

Among the many items used in personal care, there are an increasing number of electrically driven devices – razors, clippers, toothbrushes, hairdryers, hair curlers, mouth showers and epilators. These devices have critical functional requirements for electrical insulation and heat resistance; requirements that can be met most efficiently with Ticona's Celanex® polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), Fortron® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and Vectra® liquid crystal polymer (LCP). These three resins have good temperature resistance, especially Fortron® PPS, and all are available with V-O ratings by the Underwriter's Laboratories standard UL94.
