Drapery Hardware
Venetian blinds, vertical blinds and curtain tracks all have a variety of wheels and pulleys that must give consistent low-friction operation over long time periods. Any binding in the mechanism may cause the user to apply excessive force. Ticona offers designers a great solution to this problem in the form of its Hostaform® and Celcon® acetal copolymers (POM). These resins possess inherent self-lubricity and offer not only a low coefficient of friction, but also low wear and good fatigue and creep resistance.
As well as providing desirable long-term mechanical and frictional properties, Ticona’s acetal copolymers also have excellent aesthetic capabilities. Available grades can yield parts with either high-gloss or low-gloss surfaces and can be color-matched to fit virtually any décor. In addition to low friction against metal, they also have excellent sliding behavior against surfaces made from Celanex® polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), allowing manufacture of complete low-friction plastic drapery hardware systems.
