Soar Higher
Design For Cost. Design For High Performance.

Ticona, a leading global supplier of engineering polymers, is positioned with the right products, technology and people to help bring your new ideas forward in the thermoplastic composite market. For light and tough composites that can reduce weight, drive down costs and perform in extreme environments, Ticona thermoplastics deliver.

Fortron® PPS
Fortron® PPS is a linear, semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer, perfectly suited for composite parts that have to withstand both high mechanical and thermal requirements. Fortron PPS offers an ideal alternative to conventional materials such as thermosetting polymers and metals. It is easy to process and machine and can be incorporated into a variety of unidirectional tapes and fabric pre-pregs. Additional performance characteristics include:

  • Continuous use temperatures up to 240°C, short-term up to 270°C
  • High melting point range between 280°C and 290°C
  • Inherent flame resistance (UL94 V-0 and 5 VA) and low smoke characteristics
  • Excellent resistance to chemicals, oils and fluids - No known solvents
  • High hardness and stiffness and superb long-term creep under load properties
  • Achieves weight reduction combined with high dimensional stability even in high humidity environments - excellent hot/wet performance

Celstran® Composites

Celstran® thermoplastic composites encompass a number of long-fiber and continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastics that can be adapted in tailor-made fashion to customer requirements. Nearly all types of semi-crystalline and amorphous thermoplastics polymers are suitable as thermoplastic matrix materials. A wide range of resins, fibers and additives are available.

Celstran

Celstran is produced in a special patented process through which high impregnation quality is achieved without damage to the fibers. Every single filament of the reinforcement fibers is wetted intensively in this process. Product forms can be pellets (1/2", 1" and custom lengths) and Unidirectional Fiber Reinforced Tapes (4", 6", 8", 10" and custom widths).

Vectra® LCP
The exceptional property profile of Vectra® LCP allows it to meet very demanding service requirements. Vectra LCP withstands temperatures below -160°C and as high as 240°C, with very good chemical resistance. Long established in the electronics industry, Vectra LCP performs equally as well in the industrial textile and fabric industries.

  • Operating temperatures up to 240°C, temporarily up to 340°C, depending on the grade
  • Inherent flame resistance (UL 94 V-0, 5 VA)
  • Excellent dimensional stability
  • Very high tensile strength and very high elastic modulus in flow direction
  • High impact strength
  • Excellent chemical and oxidative resistance
  • Low moisture absorption
  • Excellent flex/fold characteristics
  • Good vibration damping characteristics and shock absorbency

Strength and Stiffness
Vectra LCP has excellent stiffness-to-strength properties and exhibits extremely high strength and rigidity.
